In accordance with the order of the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan No. 425 of May 25, 2000, Military Medical Faculty was established in Azerbaijan Medical University. The Military Medical School was also subordinated to the military medical faculty of Azerbaijan Medical University for the centralization of all forms of military medical education.

Military Medical Faculty performs the following tasks:

- Pre-diploma training of military medical personnel in accordance with the requirements of the Armed Forces;

- Adjuncture programmes, training of military science personnel;

- Training of military paramedics.

In accordance with the decision of the Cabinet of Ministers of the Republic of Azerbaijan and the order of the Minister of Defense at the military medical faculty of the Azerbaijan Medical University, the training of highly qualified military doctors is organized in the residency.

The plan of the scientific activity of the departments is intended for research on scientific articles, textbooks, monographs, theses and other scientific works.

Educational work of cadets and residents is planned and implemented by the heads of faculties, officer-instructors, course leaders, commanders in accordance with the requirements of the Armed Forces, orders, instructions of the Minister of Defense, his deputies, the Regulations of Azerbaijan Medical University and the Military Medical Faculty.
